The Podcast

„TMNT – The Talk“ is a podcast that focuses exclusively on the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Christian, the host of the podcast, has been a fan of the four Ninja Turtles his entire life.

Since he was born in 1982, he was just the right age when the big Turtles mania took off in the early ’90s. Suddenly, everyone at school was talking about these martial arts fighting, pizza-loving turtles. When his father gave him the VHS tape of “The Old Switcheroo”, the little boy was captivated by this world that had been completely unknown to him until then. There was fighting, funny jokes and lots of pizza. And just like that, a love and fascination was born — one that continues to this day.

From then on, Christian consumed everything related to the Ninja or Hero Turtles (as the four brothers were called in Europe). Comics, action figures, movies, video games — you name it. He wanted to have it all, read it all and watch it all.

In the mid-2010s, Christian discovered the podcast medium — and more and more podcasts that focused on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He listened with great interest to other Turtles fans talking about all the comics, shows, and movies. And that’s when the idea was born: he wanted to do that too.

Since all the Ninja Turtles podcasts were in English, Christian wanted to create one in German. After all, there were plenty of fans in German-speaking countries too. So in 2015, he simply started talking into his microphone. At first, there wasn’t much of a concept behind it — Christian just wanted to talk about the Turtles. And that’s exactly what he did. As a result, the very first episode of “TMNT – The Talk” was released on May 23rd 2015.

After a few episodes, however, things started to improve. He began reviewing the comics from the very beginning or sharing his thoughts on the movies. There were also a few special episodes, including interviews — such as one with co-creator Kevin Eastman. Each episode featured individual segments that can still be found in current releases, such as the News, the “Random Quote of the Day”, the “Character of the Day” or the “Song of the Day” at the end of each episode.

Since 2019, there has also been an English episode every two weeks, in which Christian discusses current topics — like the comics from the U.S. publisher IDW — for non-German-speaking fans.

“TMNT – The Talk” has been running for many years now, and it doesn’t look like the podcast will be ending anytime soon. Christian is happy to release a new episode each week, where he gets to talk about his absolute favorite topic: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Through the podcast, he’s also connected with other fans — some of whom he now even considers friends. One of them is Pascal, who regularly appears on the podcast as a guest. Together, Christian and Pascal also created the audio drama “Shredder”, in which they crafted their own version of the story of how young Oroku Saki became the villain Shredder.

“TMNT – The Talk” will continue to provide Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans with weekly news, information, and reviews about anything and everything related to the four pizza-munching, martial-arts-fighting Turtles. And if you have something to say, you can always send Christian a message or an email. Because there’s one thing the host of the podcast truly loves: talking long and in great detail about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Life is good… and life goes on.
